Middle Years

Aloha, AMS Ohana!

The goal of the “Middle Years” Newsletter is to provide busy parents with practical ideas that promote school success via parental involvement. We hope you find it useful.

Here are some important, middle-of-the-month reminders for you.

Are you looking for ways to get involved at AMS?  While we do not have “classroom volunteer” opportunities, there are other ways you can help out our school community!

Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO)

We’d love for you to join the PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization)! Registration forms came home in students’ beginning-of-year packets. We are in search of a few good folks to step into empty leadership roles within our PTSO so we can continue our great history of giving back to our school, its students, and the ENTIRE AMS community. If you’re on the fence about serving…just know, you’ll have PLENTY of support and will never be on your own 🙂 If this sounds like something you’re interested in, feel free to contact Alicia Morgan and she will arrange a time to share more information with you soon!

Join us for a PTSO meeting! Our first meetings are scheduled for tomorrow–Tuesday, August 17th, at 9am and at 5pm.

School Community Council (SCC)

We are currently looking for parents to serve on our School Community Council, or SCC. Our SCC is a committee of stakeholders from throughout our learning community that meets monthly to advise and assist Principal Hetrick on the development and implementation of the AMS Academic and Financial Plans. Our meetings typically last no more than an hour and a half. Would you like to learn more? We will hold an online SCC informational meeting Wednesday, August 18th at 9am. We hope to “meet” you there!

MISC

Finally, Friday is a STATE holiday–Admissions Day– so there will be no school. Thursday will be an early dismissal day. The day will finish at 1:15.

We have an open door policy at AMS. If there’s ever anything we can assist you with,  please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Go, Panthers!
